Bob Geldof
reflects on Africa, his thirty year campaign to alleviate poverty, hunger and
disease and why he believes we are at a crucial moment in history.
In this
conversation he highlights the tremendous advances that have been made. AIDS,
he says, is almost eliminated, huge numbers have been lifted out of abject
poverty and the future for Africa is bright.
But he
warns this is no time for complacency. For individuals, governments and civil
society there’s still so much to do and his passionate and forceful advocacy
shows no signs of diminishing.
Highlights
of his conversation with RN’s Waleed Aly at the 20th international AIDS
conference, Melbourne, July 2014
