The Vietnam War marked a change for the world of journalism. Before
the Cold War-era military conflict, war reporting attempted to form
enthusiastic stories to incite encouragement while the true brutality of
war was never brought to the public eye. However the raw, unforgiving
reporting as well as the graphic images that came out of the front lines
of the Vietnam war did more than sway public opinion — it helped end
the war.
Syria’s catastrophic revolution has become a massive humanitarian
crisis. Brutality is an everyday ordeal in the country that has been
involved in a civil war that has pit government forces against rebel
fighters. An approximate 100,000 people have died in clashes, with 3,000
dying each month. To really understand the deep tragedy of the Syrian
civil war, one cannot simply look at numbers or approximations. Below
are photos taken in the front lines in Syria, where men, women and
children are hopelessly losing their lives while there seems to be no
imminent resolution in sight.
